If you want to LIVE in SH, you need good money; not crazy amounts but confortables... You can stay here for a week or two on a budget or a few month as a student, but not to live. At least for European standards. And if you got +3yo kids, you really need VERY good money for international school and housing+level. SH is an amazing city and the weather is not that awful IF your place is confortable enough. I agree it's the key point that circle us back to money. I would also say, it can seems obvious, but you need always to stay very flexible and open mind with your own culture. A lot of long term residents leave SH after a while because they can't take the small differences on a long term even if at the begining they were thinking : it's so charming !!! Like an ex BF/GF ! ;) Money & Open mind needed + a good reasons to stay. Bye !

Agree with her. I've been to Seychelles, Maldives, Mauritius and Zanzibar. For me Zanzibar is a one time go. Other places are much nicer, especially Seychelles and Mauritius. Also, love Thailand. I can go there countless times.
